Robin Beaman, Founder's Story
We could start by saying that Robin Beaman, Founder and President of Beaman Inc., is an accomplished practitioner in the fields of marketing, corporate relations, and media relations. We can even wax poetic about her awards and accolades. However, none of that will tell you about the journey and conviction of a woman who has always taken “No” to simply mean “Not yet, but one day soon.”
After graduating from Howard University’s School of Communications, Robin became director of public relations at The Capital Children’s Museum in Washington, D.C. This is where the foundation was laid for her to eventually create a firm that would be a direct reflection of her passion, drive, and foresight.
Robin's next move, like all good stories, was transformation personified. Robin accepted a role with the upstart Black Entertainment Television (BET), a relatively new player in the growing cable television industry. Through her hard work and invaluable insight, top leadership conceded that Robin was the right person to lead the network’s public relations. A consummate visionary, Robin cultivated BET’s first public relations department and was promoted to director of consumer marketing and public relations for the entire network.
Following her seven-year tenure with BET, Robin set her sights on a much higher goal: to work for the queen of talk shows, Oprah Winfrey. As part of the legendary Oprah Winfrey team, Robin managed national and international publicity, community engagement and special events for “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and the award-winning movie franchise, Oprah Winfrey Presents.
While that job may have been the pinnacle for most, it was the start of an even bigger dream. Robin decided it was time to take flight with the wings she had so diligently strengthened over the years. Beaman Inc., a small and nimble firm comprised of national talent, was established to provide clients, big and small, with high-impact services.
Robin’s story is a testament that hard work can surely open doors, yet it is faith and patience, along with vision, that will turn dreams into realities.
